Driving with no air filter
Weird question... How much would you worry if you found out that you drove 100 miles with no air filter ? No, not my fault...long story...
Then you changed the oil and filter - nice mobil1, found nothing in the filter folds... And drove another 100 miles before the throaty induction noise clued you in to the absence of said filter? So 200 mi total, no sand getting sucked in that I can think of, just possibly a few unlucky Mosquitos and some pollen... Would you throw away your new oil filter and all that new mobil 1 used on the last 100 mi? Me, I've really never seen anything in my filters other than dirt, but I enjoying worrying about stuff so I'm asking you guys :-) be kind! |
probably fine, wouldn't worry about it since you weren't crossing the sahara or similar.

In a damp climate, you're fine.
For 100 miles, you'd probably even be OK in Albuquerque, too unless there was one of their sandstorms. |
I wouldn't worry.... my 993 cup car just had a screen over the intake....but if a shop left out the filter I'd ream them out.....

It appears that you're from FLorida and since you stated you like to worry about these things I'll give you something to worry about. 94% of Florida's air contains remains of Palmetto bugs. Primarily their waste products. Driving your vehicle for over 100 miles in this environment can produce toxins within the cylinder walls.
If I were you, I'd sell your car immediately. ps. I'll give you 2,000 bucks for the car as it sits. Afterall, I'll have to remove and disassemble the engine to rid it of the Palmetto waste |
