HELP! Strange oil leak
I've seen a lot of 911 oil leaks, but never one in this area. The engine is a Carrera '87. Recently, I had the heads re-done, new guides, valve grind, and driven it about 2.5k since. Soon after installing the engine I began to notice two small oil spots on the floor under the left side, beneath the lower valve cover. I blamed it on probably a poor gasket seal, and waited to correct it at the first valve adjustment. More recently, a new spot began to appear on the garage floor under the front right side of the engine. Today I pulled the valve covers to do a valve adjustment, change the oil, etc. The two irregular shaped areas of the cam towers on either side of the number two and number five exhaust lifter all had evidence of a small amount of oil. Note the picture attached. The area shown in the picture is of the area between the number five and number six exhaust lifters. Remember, this area is open to the atmosphere. Note the small puddle of oil beneath the nut, in the portion of the picture within the blue square. These two areas on both the left and right cam towers had a small amount of oil in the same place. The only place I can imagine the oil could come from is past the rocker arm shaft. What do I do now, remove and re-install all the rocker arm shafts? Live with an oil leak? Has anyone else ever encountered a leak at this point?
