rs vs rsr fender question

I'm a little confused.
I keep seeing pics of rs's and rsr's and I curious about which fender is which.

What I'm looking for is the fender that looks vented at the door opening. Looks as though it's a couple inches wider than the front edge of the door.

Anyone know what I'm referring to?

Thanks,

Which years and which cars? RSR are usually wide bodied front and rear, RS not so much.

Both really are RSR - there's an 11" flare (rear) and a 15" vented flare. (they actually make a 13" too)

Both are referred to as RSR flares.

The 11" flare (rear) is mated to a 9" front flare - these are similar to the regular Turbo Flares

The 15" vented flare needs to be mated to the 11" front RSR flare that is also vented in the rear.

The "RS" flares are more in line with the regular SC/Carrera profile but on a longhood car.

Yep, Jeremy's got it.

That's the one I was referring to. So, it's 11" front and 15" rear?

I also saw long hood mentioned. I assume this is what a 74 would have been?

Actually 74 and later are short hood cars....

The 15" are a little cartoonish - as in the rear wheel sits WAY outside The 13" is not quite as extreme. - Just my opinion.

Jeremy is correct.

The '73 RS has stock front fenders and the rear is similar to the later SC and 3.2 Carrera. It is sometimes referred to as a 8" or 9".

The '73 2.8 RSR (long hood) had the 9" front and 11" rear that were blended into the rest of the body.

The '74 3.0 RSR (short hood) had the 11" front and 15" rear.

The 3.0 RS (short hood) had the wide body of the early turbo.

So was there ever a 13 or 15 rear blended with the 11 front or any other front fender that had the vent in the rear edge where it meets the door?

There were many team configured flairs thru the years as the rules allowed larger wheels and track width. The ST years had some of the most unique team constructed flairs. So, it is very possible that someone ran something like that, even the factory had some wild configurations with the early prototype RSR's. It seems that at almost every race meeting they had different setups in early '73.

73 "RS" look= 8" flares. (this is actually an SC, but good enough for discussion sake)

73 RSR look- these are actually 911 turbo flares, but basically the same as the 73 RSR

74 iroc RSR used turbo width fenders , so essentially the same flares as the 73 RSR

Todd -
Just curious if you've sourced '74-'75 RSR bodywork. I've started to think about doing this to my car, but haven't been able to find any good references for the fenders and bumpers etc...
