Light in Emergency Flasher Switch
I have decided that I would like for ALL of my interior lights to work. I have just finished replacing the burned out lights in my HVAC Controls and rear windshield defogger switch.
I was looking at the wiring diagram and saw that the Emergency Flasher switch appears to have a light bulb in it as well. Laying upside down on the floor looking at the switch in the panel, it is not obvious where the light is inserted. Does anyone know if there is a light there and how to change it? Thanks in advance! SmileWavy PS... does anyone know how many Pelicans it takes to change a light bulb? |
During my battery drain issue I somehow re-connected this feature. It had never worked before.
EDIT 2--I just remembered that the ground for this was unplugged so check yours. There is a grounding point right behind the ashtray. I took it out but never did find a bulb or even any way to open the case to replace a bulb. Purchasing a new switch may be the only solution. EDIT: Yep, it appears that a new switch IS the only option.http://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin/smart/more_info.cgi?pn=911-613-124-32-M100&catalog_description=Emergency%20Flasher%2FHaz ard%20Switch%2C%20%39%31%31%20%28%31%39%37%33%2D%3 8%39%29%2C%20%39%31%31%20Turbo%20%28%31%39%37%36%2 D%38%39%29%20 |
Thanks. Sigh... Not the encourgement I was looking for.
How did you remove the switch without breaking it? |
I just pushed it out from the back of the dash. Like the headlight switch, it's in there tight with the wiring harness. Just gently push it out. You could leave the wires connected as I think they are long enough. This would allow you to test them or at least see how they mate.

Wayne,
At your suggestion I tried to pull/wiggle the switch to remove it. Much to my surprise, the front lens turned easily and after several turns came off and lo and behold, there was a tiny bulb (burned out of course) in there. I now need to find one and see if I can get it to work. |
Cool.
Post your results and maybe a pic. Mine works so I never investigated it further. |
Well,
I got the light working. It was several things: 1-The bulb had burned out. After much futzing around, I was able to verify that it is the same bulb that is used for my instruments and rear defogger light switch. 2-The bulb just pushes in. Mine was loose in the holder so I added a few thicknesses of aluminum foil to make it sung. 3-My ground was bad and after I pulled the wire off of the ground star and reinserted it, I had continuity. |
Glad to hear and thanks for following up for anyone that may be having the same issue.
I drove for several miles with my flashers on without knowing it after being pulled over. The tach indicators did not work, either. |
