There is no such thing as a 1974 Carrera RS 2.7. There was a 1974 Carrera RS 3.0, but it was a wide-bodied car, and much more desireable/rare. The car in the eBay listing appears to be a standard `74 Carrera 2.7.

Unfortunately, it looks like another fraudulent California eBay ad!

No shot of the engine to show whether it has CIS or MFI, but the tach. is a 'regular' garden-variety CIS 6500 rpm version! It looks like the seller has been on Ecstacy ... confusing the '73 RS and the '74 Carrera press reviews!

He did, however, let one gaff slip through! Never heard of an 'upgraded airbox' for an MFI engine!

Bidder beware is the byword on this one!

There was a 1974 Carrera 2.7. It used the same motor as the 73 RS but the new body shell. It was made all the way until 1976 (very few of that model year made however..)
The 1974 Carrera RS was the 3.0 liter car and was made in very small numbers. It had the large fender flares front and rear and was the basis for the IROC cars.
The Carrera 2.7 serial numbers were 91146.....in 1974, 91156 in 1976 and 91166......in 1976.

This was only a ROW car, yes (the one that used the RS motor)? Folks in the US got a 'standard' 2.7 motor I believe.

Looks like the seller's claim of an RS motor may not be a leap as he/she claims it is the Euro Carrera 2.7. I guess the 'tach' remains a problem as stated above.

Regards and have a great weekend!

Kurt

My guess is that it's a US Spec 2.7 Carrera. Hence the *upgraded airbox* meaning, a pop off valve. Thus, it's the 911S engine with CIS. The 2.7 Carrera was a '74 model.

The guy is a dealer, note the dealer plates. Also I see the lack of interior photos or motor photos.

$5,000 for a total rebuild.....bull$hit.....

I emailed the seller asking for engine # and build sheet on the motor. Either way, I will be checking with CA DMV to find out who this bozo is...

Hey Warren....take it easy on California. Texas is no haven for honest people either....we got hosed pretty bad by Texas owned companies on the electrical energy sales.

Yep, a totally fraudulent add - and there's bidders! Interested to find out what he says about the engine #, Mikez.

I guess I don't understand what all of the fuss is about here- this is a regular U.S.,(not euro), '74 carrera. Pretty clean, actually. They were regular '74 911S spec + flares and spoilers for U.S., Europe got the MFI still. Emissions doomed MFI that year in U.S.

Ad contains usual BS; "euro model", valve adjustment=total rebuild, etc., but as I've stated before, anyone who shops for old 911 w/o basic knowledge of the cars is going to get hosed good no matter what. And they could do a lot worse than this.

The Euro model would have different headlamps (more laid-back) and we don't get the orange side repeater lenses either.

Don't you guys have trade desciption legislation over there?

150 mph on 165 BHP.....wow!

That looks like a pretty good '84 Carrera. Low miles, looks very stock. If you can get past the brown color (see my gallery pic).
The price didn't get bid up very high, maybe he's willing to let it go cheap.

I'd like the LSD.
