Hey there everyone,
New to this bulletin board, and a member of one other motoring bulletin board (Scoobynet.co.uk) and can tell you guys that this one looks fantastic. My Dad has a 1984 911 Carrera. He had the pleasure recently to go on a historic touring Rally in the West of England. During the Rally he got a number of free laps of Castlecombe - a circuit there. However, he found that he couldn't keep the back end in all round the circuit. Someone mentioned to him that he should have increased the pressure in his tyres, and that perhaps he should look into the best tyres for the car. He is a bit of a technophobe so I thought it would be a good idea to ask those who know - i.e. you lot. His car is totally original and standard. Can someone recommend to me the best tyres for road/circuit, wet/dry and the best pressures for circuit/road (if in fact he does need to increase the pressure). Here's hoping. Cheers Tim

I see the recommendation or 32psi front 34 rear quite often. Also the Porsche recommendations could be a good starting point, try them both.
As far as tires it depends on how far he wants to go. Soft, Sticky street tires, R compound street tires, DOT (probably doesn't mean much to you) legal race tires. A good place to check would also be www.tirerack.com, they have tire ratings and reviews from customers. I just went there, the tires on this page seem to come up repeatedly as being excellent tires for people who want to *DRIVE* their 911's. TireRack Max Performance tires I have the SP9000's and can tell you they stick really well in the wet. Much better than I ever want to find out, but I don't know how they would compare to the others in the dry.
