Heated glovebox on my '87 Carrera, any ideas?

Put 500 miles on the '87 Carrera several days ago and am puzzled by a good deal of warm/hot air coming from under the dash somewhere behind the glovebox (quite toasty inside). The AC was working fine (including through the under dash "bowtie") and the heating controls were in the off position. Would appreciate any suggestions as to the possible source of the hot air and what to fix to eliminate it.
Thanks.

You floor heat outlets are under the glove box and on the drivers side under the dash. If you are getting heat through them first make sure the red knob lever on the dash is fully to the left and that either your auto heat is set to 0 or the red lever down on the floor is pushed all the way down. If you have done all of this and you are still getting heat in the cabin, then your flapper boxes back by the heat exchangers are stuck open.

Kurt-
Will check as you suggest. If the heat is only on the passenger side and not the drivers would that indicate the flapper box is possibly stuck open on just the one side?
Thanks for the help.

Not only were my flappers staying open, but I had a misaligned duct in the front trunk, that was diverting air to the glovebox. Check there, too. You just have to remove the protective panel (2 screw) to view all your air control ducts. I remember driving in the summer with the glovebox open to vent the heat.

Probably flapper boxes stuck.

On the bright side you now have a place to put some hotpockets for those longer trips and snack as you go. NOM NOM NOM
