Power seats from manual seats

How to install power seats where manual seats were, where there are no wires for seats. Can I install power seats and run wires and if so what gauge wire and where to in fuse box.
Thanks for any help....Mark

Run a wire (with an inline fuse) straight from the battery.

Gage: big.

Adding weight to a '77 targa, are we? Is this a contest to design the slowest 911 ever?

Forza...Do you think I should stay with the manual seats. I didn't think adding power seats would slooooow the car down that much. Hey but I'm new to all this stuff. No problem manual it is.

My seats were pretty worn when I purchased my 911. I found a set of power seats for a good price and installed them with no problem. However if I had it to do again, I would go manual. The power seats are quite heavy and to be honest I have not adjusted them since the day I installed them 4 years ago.

It's just my personal opinion that adding needless weight to a sports car is entirely antithetical to its design. Unless you know from personal experience that power Recaro seats can manuever in some fashion that suits your ergodynamics significantly better than manual ones--which I find unlikely in this case--in no way do they justify the extra expense and weight. If one really is a Grand Touring person (I'm not, but they do exist), then Porsche already has just right the car: it's called a 928!

I ran 12/2 wire from the fuse panel and added a relay.

Has anyone converted power seats to manual by removing the motors to lose the weight? You still would have the front to back manual slide adjustment. The reason for asking is that I have a very nice set of power seats that I don't expect to adjust once they are installed.

Well, I wish I'd never seen the pictures of those seats......
Janusz: So how much weight are we talkin' about?!? Seriously, I would think you could set your seats as you like for height/angle front and rear, then remove them and tear out the motors and wiring, brackets and such. Your seats would be where you want them.
"Adding weight to a '77 targa, are we? Is this a contest to design the slowest 911 ever?" Tep10: You could buy your parts from Janusz.....
Personally, and mostly OT, I cleaned and reorganized the garage yesterday. Car weighs the same as before, though no doubt a few pounds were lost...from me and the garage!
