How Do You Remove W/S Washer Nozzles...
Reference: "84"
Does anyone know how to remove the windshield washer nozzles? There is a serrated type nut, but it appears to be part of the stem of the nozzle, is it in fact a nut? Thanks for your help...

Hi Mitch:
I had one go bad, and it was a pain to get that thing out. They sort of clip in with a one way fastener, like a toggle bolt. I tried to pinch the toggle looking things together, but I eventually gave up and used a side cutter to cut the thing in half. Sorry if that doesn't help, but at least I found the parts diagram..... ![]() |

Russ,
Thanks, I was afraid of that, they look like a one way install... But before I went for the WMD I thought I would ask. I was thinking of drilling the top off, also maybe using a small sharp chisel on the underside might work well too.

The small tear drop ones are removed by squeezing the two sides just under the cowl compressing the two tangs with a pair of long nose pliers and wiggle while putting upward pressure. I have done it with both straight and 90 degree needle nose pliers without ruining them.

W/S Washer Nozzle Removal...
Jeff and Doyle,
I gave it a college try, you're better men than I am... I started with the easy side, the right side which has good access, but gave up. There are 4 ears that have to be compressed all at once to be able to remove the nozzle. I found that with the needle nose pliers on the nozzle stem there wasn't any room left to push up on, plus you still needed to get the other 2 ears depressed, I gave up and decided to buy my way out. After all Wayne's kids need a college education and I'm willing to contribute. The right side I used side cutters like "russnak" did. The left side has limited access because of the master cylinder so I tried Plan "B", I drilled off the nozzle. I drilled a pilot hole in the center, then used a 17/64 drill, then took Vice Grips and pulled it out. Took about 3 minutes... ![]()

No way, Mitch. You're the better man for having the guts to drill that thing out, pilot hole or no pilot hole.
And I feel much better for not being the only guy to punt in this situation and cut that thing out. |

Russ,
If you're going to "waste" the nozzle it's a snap, it's only plastic, turn the drill slow and with a pilot hole you won't get into any trouble. Trust me!
