1 in 1 out to 2 in 1 out. Anyone do this?

I am putting in a set of early heat exchangers into my 76' Targa which has the 1 in, 1 out muffler. Is it possible to weld in two new inlets, and weld shut the old inlet, to make it like the 74' muffler. Or is the inside totally different, and I have to get another one? Anyone ever do this, or have photos of the inside of the two mufflers?

Its different.. has to be based on the pictures I've seen of mufflers people have peeled open. BUT...... I think if you did what you suggest it would work.. because I do believe your single in is going to the "main chamber".. Im guessing the math will work in regards to restriction because you have the same volume of air flowing..

Im one of the idiots who has opened his muffler, modified it and put it back together.. Im quite pleased with myself Sounds great.. who knows how it performs but sounds great.
