engine problems??

Hello,

I have got my engine running, well sort of, and I was wondering if anyone had any ideas of what to check. The engine runs rough at idle and then better as I open the throttle to about half-open then it falls off and runs on 2-3 cylinders. The igniton is timed and the fuel pump is set to the #1 cylinder. So any ideas to check??

Thanks,
Ron

Its usually best to describe what we are working on . For starters What fuel system does this assumed 6 cyl have ?

MFI

Sorry,

I have 2.7 RS spec with "S" MFI. It has the "S" MFI pump so I am guessing it also "S" cams and all the other RS stuff. The previous owner that rebuilt the engine said it had aprox. 260hp on the dyno. Also it has not been run in 2 yrs.

Thanks,
Ron

for starters, the pump is supposed to be timed to the FE mark, AFTER #4 cylinder. see if the plugs are black too.

Fuel Pump Alignment

I understand that the pump is to be aligned with the #1 cylinder ( the cylinders were labeled backwards)

6 3
5 2
4 1

So i set the pump to the wrong cylinder un knowlingly and I am just going to wait until I pull the engine to change, I have been told that the car will run but have no power under 2800 rpms so I am just going to hold on the belt alignment. Also the firing order is correct even though the cylinders were labeled backwards.

Thanks,
Ron
