Can't get it up!! (...the idle, that is.)
I just replaced DME relay a couple weeks ago and car runs great. No misses or flat spots. My idle just seems too low. Always has. I've tried adjusting the idle screw (7mm) several times, but when I get it to idle smoothly-it will "bounce" while I drive the car rather than come down when I depress the clutch. Once it steadies itself it is o.k. I have the screw set back to its' original setting, before I ever touched it. When warm, it idles at approx. 600 RPM and seems rough. It has never stalled. If I could just get it to 850-900 RPMs, without causing the "bouncing" issue I would be all set. Any ideas? The more specific: the better. Thanks-

Sound like you have a vaccum leak in the system. The large breather hose form the oil tank to the rear of the engine like to crack. Also there is a rubber boot from the oil tank to a pvc valve, that like to crack too. Ther is also a vacuum tube on the left rear that goes to the throttle body boot, that likes to crack too. I have found all 3 of these hoses leaking, did the same thing as you describe. Dissconnect you o2 sensor and see if the idle changes.
Just my 1/2 cents DRD Darren:) |
