Subscribing to a thread...

I thought it would be helpful to know how to subscribe to a thread without adding the text, "Subscribe"...

Just open the thread, go to the tool bar at drag down "thread tools", then click on "subscribe to this thread". Now you're all signed up. You can do the same thing to un-subscribe.

Leland,

subscribed.....

;)

:D

I think the word subscribed should be banned, so should +1. I have used both before.

+1, Subscribed.

Any help for the converse? I.e., if you leave a post you're subscribed and have to unsubscribe using thread tools. I wish I could leave a comment occasionally and not keep getting the email notices automatically.

With that I'll now unsubscribe;)

Great Thread! One of my pet peeves when I have to get an e-mail notification just because someone has posted "subscribed".

Sorry, no screen shot but just use the "post reply" button instead of quick reply. This brings up the proper editor. Below the window where you type the text of your message you see the "click here to upload photo" and the "submit reply" button. Keep going down to "additional options" and you will see the area where you can choose your notification settings. One of the choices in the drop-down menu is "do not subscribe".

Also, if you are already subscribed, then the button Mr. Leland showed you will now say "unsubscribe from this thread".

For the record, I am not subscribing to this thread. :p

HunterVonWurst 04-22-2010 05:57 PM

+1 - Also not subscribing.

LakeCleElum 04-22-2010 10:22 PM

Yeah but - doing it your way doesn't boost the "post count" of those that want to just say "subscribe" to get their name out there..........SmileWavy

I just subscribe to certain threads without actually posting "subscribed". Why is this done? Is it meant as a courtesy to the original poster?

efhughes3 04-27-2010 06:03 AM

It is a courtesy to all who are subscribed and get email notice when a post is made.

What kind of tires should I get for my 911?

SCWDP911 04-27-2010 07:21 AM

which oil should i use?

Gogar 04-27-2010 07:30 AM

I like to do it because it ups my post count and a higher post count makes me appear smarter.

Amen to that - Although I have to say - try and rebuild a 3.2 to a 3.4 on your own or try and fit 993 brakes to a 911 - that does wonders to your post count :D

There is a forum setting which allows you to set your default subscribe action.
Go to:
User CP
--Edit Options
---Default Thread Subscription Mode

I suspect a lot of people do not want to subscribe, but just get the little arrow dingus showing to the left of the thread title when they post on a thread...
