Post Important to remove oil during valve adjustment?

i know valve adjustments always seem to be a hot topic around here.

I was just wondering, how important is it to remove the engine oil during a valve adjustment? Is it necessary at all?

i recently did an oil change and now mechanic wants to do valve adjustment without removing the oil first.

thanks

Yes, you don't have to remove the oil.
I've found that hardly any drips out during a valve adjust.

I just completed the valve adjustment with the help of Doug Zielke. Having someone who has done this before is a big help.

I lost about 3 quarts from the lower valve covers. Not a big deal just make sure you have a large enough pan underneath.

Take your time with the feeler guage and rotate it around, it goes in a different way on each valve. (one o-clock on one valve and then five o-clock on the next, etc.)
