i know valve adjustments always seem to be a hot topic around here.
I was just wondering, how important is it to remove the engine oil during a valve adjustment? Is it necessary at all? i recently did an oil change and now mechanic wants to do valve adjustment without removing the oil first. thanks |

Yes, you don't have to remove the oil.
I've found that hardly any drips out during a valve adjust. |

I just completed the valve adjustment with the help of Doug Zielke. Having someone who has done this before is a big help.
I lost about 3 quarts from the lower valve covers. Not a big deal just make sure you have a large enough pan underneath. Take your time with the feeler guage and rotate it around, it goes in a different way on each valve. (one o-clock on one valve and then five o-clock on the next, etc.) ------------------ Rob Fix '78 SC Targa |
