Question whats up with my oil?

After a long drive in the country today, my engine finally got up to operating temp. , first time in a little over a week. When I took off the filler cap, to check the oil level, there was a creamy pale yellowish deposit all along the filler tube. Has anyone ever had this before, and what is the cause?

It condensation that forms in the oil when the weather gets cool. Along drive to get things hot will burn off the condensation.

Thanks guys,
It had me worried. As you might be able to tell this is the first cold weather driving for this unit.

Well, It may be "normal" for engines that are not run enough, but it's certainly *not* a good thing.
Your motor is trying to tell you something, ffilips.

oil condensation

Porsche have 11 qts of oil and it needs to get hot to get all of the moisture out of the system. It is the same with any engine. Change the oil more often if you are running only short hops and the engine cannot get up to temp. the contaminates will eat at the metals in the engine and sludge ccan form inside.
The condition you describe is common, and not ideal.
Drive something else if you are able to on those short runs.
