Wink Hey from the war

Well I just bribed one of my computer techs to grant me access to this site. You all know I can't tell you where I am but I can say it's hot and there is lots of sand. Things are going well and I am in better living quarters then I expected. Food is decent enough and I work too long to complain about the lack of entertainment. It's get up, go to the gym, eat, work 13 or 14 hours, eat, sleep, start again. We have all dubbed this place Groundhog day after that movie. Same crap, every day. I wish I could tell how we are doing in the campaign, but of course this is being monitored and I'm lucky I got this far. I think those of you that supported the president's decision would be proud of the work your military, and our coalition partners are doing. The hardest part right now is seeing any of our guys suffer, be it from worse conditions than mine, or combat injury, and not being able to do anything about it. My jobs allows me to see big picture stuff, kind of a god view, and we all feel a sense of guilt if something happens and we are not actually on the ground throwing lead.

Other than that, I hear the car is coming along fine. Fresh Venetian blue, with the rock gaurd along the inner fender lips, just like she came from the factory. Interior is going full leather rather than the half business it left Germany with. Hope you all are doing well. No time to scroll through the posts now. Have to get back to the fight.

Just keep in mind from some people who have approached this before: You are doing valuable work and deserve a big pat on the back. I'm glad there are people out there who still believe in our freedom enough to fight for it! Especially the ones who took my place after the Bush Sr/Cheney reduction fiasco in '92. Know you are in our prayers and we look forward to hearing more about the upgrades!

Hey thanks for the offer, would love some dancing girls and a 6 pack. I can get neither of those here. Dry country! I've got my 101 projects book, but If your going to throw away your Excellence or Porsche Worlds I'd love them. I expect most folks keep them like I do but ya never know. Other than that I'm doing ok. Don't have a family so I don't get much mail. Anybody have a cute 23-30 daughter/sister that needs a penpal

If you guys want to drop a line my work email is up at rj.cilurso@psab.af.mil.

Oh, just wanted to say that my quality of life has just improved drastically already. This board brings me a ton of happiness in itself, and I'm very appreciative to have it back. Funny how the little things mean so much more in a situation like this.

RJ,

Do you have the same 14 oz limit that Leland has for APO mail? Will send some magazines so pls let me know if you have a limit. Am sending multiple envelopes for him!

Take care and stay safe! Other that that, kick ass! Hope you are not where I was in the sandbox. Spent one tour in Riyadh, not very user friendly!

It'll take time, but be sure to show up for mail call, okay? Wish we could send booze and Jack knew a few dozen hollyweird girls ready to go...but some stuff to alleviate groundhogs day WILL be arriving! I promise, and I'm sure others will too. BTW, you ever bump into Leland Pate? Yeah, I know...big world over there...

I do know customs is very strict and very slow, but a few of the guys have received packages. I haven't run into Leland but I'm pretty sure I know where he is. Dunno if I'll make it over that way.

It's 6 in the morning here and we're all crowded around a fuzzy tv watching the ballgame. It's a $15,000 plasma that is supposed to be for briefings and cnn but hey, what are ya gonna do? Thank you all for the kind words. Makes me feel a little better about being over here.

Some pretty cool stuff happened tonight, look for it on CNN. Prolly won't get it right but we'll see.

Same thing for dinner, rice and some kind of chicken thing. 30 days of rice and some meat thing. Holy cow.

Had a bazaar on base today where they searched all these locals for hours then let some on base to sell stuff. If I can get you guys anything let me know. They had some really nice persian rugs. I don't know what the heck they expect us to do with them. I'll have to look into shipping stuff the other way. Buddy of mine who is into that sort of thing said the rugs were worth over a thousand dollars in the states. They are very soft. Lots of gold, lots of brass trinkets. Nice break for the folks here just to look around and forget about work for a lil while.

I've been going to the gym. Not too bad a setup. Almost as good as one you would find at home. Breakfast is coming up, well it's dinner for me. Best meal of the day. Usually can get a hot omlette and some fresh milk.

I've been wearing desert cammies for a month.

I am starting to see these long hours affect the folks here. Getting testy, some depressed. I'm pretty good with this kind of thing and I try to keep things light and make people laugh. I know none of this is very interesting, but you guys all understand the real blow **** up stuff I'll have to let you see on tv. I let y'all go, Hope Wayne doesn't throw me off for being off topic. Thinking about keeping a journal online somewhere, maybe my page if I can get to it. Have some funny stories already.

By the way Wayne, the person next to me on the airplane, first one was commercial, was impressed that I had a signed copy of 101 projects. Even asked if I knew you. Seems you are a star.
Laters folks. I'll talk to ya tomorrow if ya want.

RC,

If you have some extra bux, we always got either gold or carpets. Both are usually high quality and worth bringing back. In Saudi and most of the ME anything less than 18k is not even considered gold so the quality is good.
They usually charge by weight only and so the workmanship does not cost much and you can ****er with them for a better price, especially if several people go in together and get several things.

The carpets are much better and at least half price of what we see back here. Well worth the look. Also if you have a chance, the silks are nice and the ladies here love them. Just a hint... works very well...

Go DiamondBacks! Cannot believe that they won but a well deserved World Championship! Glad to see that AFRTS got you guys the game in real time.
