911 Stereo Wiring Harness - How to remove wires?

I'm trying to replace a Blaupunkt head unit in my car with a Porsche CDR-210 and I purchased a wiring harness adapter from SW Stereo, but I'm having a difficult time removing the wires/connectors from the old wiring harness. Supposedly there's a prong that engages within the plastic harness connector that can be pushed out of the way to allow the wire to be removed, but I don't see anything like that. I've tried fiddling with a tiny screwdriver, a paper clip etc. to no avail. Is there a special tool that's required or some trick to get these things out? I've included a picture of the harness in case that helps.

do you have to use the plug for the new install? if not just snip the wires 2" or so from the plug and solder/heat shrink the connections to the new harness.

I don't need the existing black plastic plug (the one shown in the photo), but I need to use the wires that connect to the plug and their metal connectors. So I need to remove the wires/metal connectors from the existing plug and I can't seem to get them out.

cut the wire that goes in the plug, on the other side

THere is a little tool that can be used to unhook the connectors from the housing, they sell them at your FLAPS, I just use a paperclip inserted in the side facing you in your pic and jiggle it till the connector releases. The actual catch for the connectors is part of the connector, not the housing and is thus metal but very light and easily pushed out.

Which Blaupunkt are you replacing? I have a Bremen in my DD and it has best sound and reception ever.

I'm replacing a Blaupunkt Denver. I have to admit that the only reason I'm going with a CDR-210 is aesthetics, I rarely listen to music in the car. I like the stock look of the CDR-210 and really dislike the bright green backlight on the Denver.

BTW, maybe I'm slow today, but what is FLAPS?

Good! I always like a tool you can find in a couch cushion over one you buy. My Blau has different colors available (almost as many as a good monitor on a computer), but was really expensive.

Yeah, I was hoping the Denver had the option to change the backlight color too, but it doesn't.
