Window post vin tab missing
 

Hi,

I have no idea what I'd do without the helpful folks here on the web.

I recently bought a 91 cab. Somehow we all missed the fact that the window post vin tab is missing. The sticker on the door jam and frame tab are there and match.I am concerned that it will be an issue if I ever try and sell the car. Can Porsche, with proper documentation, make a new tab or are there other vendors where I can get a new tab.

I have same problem. My '82 SC was stolen and taken for a joyride in 1982, car was recovered all intact except VIN tab and sticker partly scraped off. PO never did anything about it, so when I bought car I checked with dealer and both are available from factory w/ proper docs. Go to dealer w/ car, registration in your name,(w/VIN on it), and order a new one. It will have to be riveted on when it arrives. Good Luck.

Rivets
 

Remember to buy the correct rivets too, DMV inspectors and Police have a book that details what the VIN plate and rivets should look like. You might have to have a certified repair station or DMV inspection office do the install to insure that it is not a stolen chassis. Check with your local DMV inspector before you do this or risk having the car confiscated and getting arrested(felony in most states).

Thanks all,

I am relieved to know I will be able to get a new vin tab. It is all legit....the sticker matches the chassis number its just the tab is missing. I'll call my not so local dealer tomorrow.
