What brakes on this SC

Sorry, didn't have a camera with me...

Early SC.

All 4 disks are drilled.

Front calipers are roughly 6" long; charcoal color with silver or white "PORSCHE" on them. Owner thinks they might be 930 brakes, he doesn't remember, he had them done 5 or 6 years ago; I'm not sure.

Front disks looked to be about 22+ mm.; didn't measure.

Rear calipers are silver, about half that long.

Sorry I only saw the car for a few minutes

Anyone?

Thanks.

Steel or alloy? Are you considering buying the car? If he doesn't know, he's probaly a check book mechanic.....ask his wrench.

Pictures?

22mm are probably Carrera rotors that have been drilled.

Could be Boxter calipers. Some have fit C2 calipers to the Carrera rotors.

If the rear caliper is mounted higher than stock the are probably Boxter.

Probably not 930 calipers as they take a massive rotor width.

Sounds like Boxster calipers and Carrera rotors,...

Thanks.
I'll see about pics. I'll see it again this weekend.

I'm guessing about the 22mm rotors, didn't measure; they look to be a little less than an inch.

He's definitely a "checkbook mechanic". He just told the mech to "put better brakes on it". Can't find the mech, think he retired and moved.

Boxster calipers are the same size (physical housing) front and rear. Depending on wear also, they use carrera rotors which are 24mm front. Axial or Radial mount would tell a lot, and if there are adapters front and/or rear, as well as any casting numbers. Also just knowing how many pistons in each caliper would help.

At 6 inches, it honestly rules out most of the newer options (993, Boxster, 996, Big Reds). Of course if the rears are half that, I don't know any 3" calipers so i dunno. I am under the impression that 964, 993, and Boxster calipers are all pretty similar size externally front to back, but have different sized pistons. They all run the same pads I think as well (front to rear, not model to model).

Are carrera (84-89) calipers/rotors a bolt on upgrade? I would think the rotors at least would be, as that is what I have for my boxster calipers, using SC Aluminum rear bananas and RSR front struts.
