broken CHT sensor

In my chase of the very warm (210 or above) erraratic idle, I found that my CHT sensor was the old 1 wire style. I went to replace it following the directions from the tech article only to have the sensor snap off flush with the head after about 1 turn out. I tried to drill it (being careful not to drill into the head) and use an easy out, no dice. Can't get a chisel into it to see if I can bust up the piece that is still in there.

Any ideas on how to get this thing out??

i've never broken one taking it out, but i broke a new one on installation. they can't take much torque, so be gentle. it was a PITA due to no working room, but one of those stubby easyouts finally got it out. in my case, the threads were not binding it. unfortunately yours are. be very careful to save the threads! it's the only place you can install it. timesert doesn't have that large, fine threaded repair sleeve either. i would probably remove the engine to get at it easier. it's a tough job to get it out and save the threads, even for an experienced mechanic. luck has a lot to do with it.
