73T - Latest Pictures / Update

The car has been over at Tuthills for a little remedial work on the paintwork I had done last year, and to have a minor rust spot looked at anongst other items.

The luggage lid refused to stay shut, and fixing it took an age along with a new lower latch to finally get it fixed, but with the track day at Spa on the 6th June approaching, the last thing I want is the luggage lid opening !

The MFI had a slight hesitation at 2K rpm, and so a LAMDA unit was welded in to the SSI, enabling a passenger and laptop to go out with Francis who then tunes the MFI to ensure the mixture is correct - or something like that. The accelarator pedal, throttle stop and speed switch were also adjusted correctly.

Turned out that both front wings had a small amount of rust at the lower rear edges - one could be ground down and 'filled' and repainted easily, whereas the RHS needed to be removed and a repair section fabricated and fitted as a complete lower rear section. The inner wings were inspected and found to be sound, which was good news. Pictures to follow when I have them from Tuthills.

A knock on of having the paintwork redone on the front wings meant that the POSRCHE script needed to be redone, but this time using genuine Porsche parts that Tuthill had in stock.

First trip out was to the FIA GT Race at Solverstone, where the GT3E was taking on the Ferrar, Lambo etc. PCGB had reserved parking and so I was given an area all to myself as I was the only pre-73 car there :-)

Latest pictures below - I think the stance is just right, and the car certainly got a lot of admiring comments on the day.

Compression / Leakdown

Meant to add that a compression and leakdown was also done with results as follows :-

Cylinder Compression
PSI Leak-down

1 125 5%
2 130 2%
3 125 3%
4 125 3%
5 125 5%
6 125 3%

Any views on what these numbers mean in terms of engine condition, given that I know it was properly rebuilt at one time by Autofarm / Specialist Cars and is pulling like a train ?
