view of gauges/Prototipo

Anyone have a pic of their Prototipo and gauges? Thinking about getting one and curious about the view thru it.

That would be for the SC of course.

teamfee3 05-02-2010 04:32 PM

you won't see much.

If you rotate the gauges left about 22° you will see everything important.

Or you can do what I did....send speedo to North Hollywood Speedometer and have them reface your gauge to remove the KPH numbers and rotate the numbers and re-index your needle so it looks normal instead of sideways when you read it.

You cant see anything through it on my SC. Its annoying but i love the wheel... and besides if you cant see 60-90 then you can really tell the officer you didnt know how fast you were going :D

Don, that looks good but it's cheaper to just turn the gauges ;)

Stock steering wheel is cheaper than a Prototipo too....

Bring them to North Hollywood and have them to this to the gauges. Looks a lot better than

Depends on your angle of view also. If you are tall and looking down on the gauges you will have quite a bit cut off from view. I'm 6'1" and can't see anything on the speedo from 30-90mph. (with the standard 350mm Prototipo). Love the wheel, hate the view.

I know this may be a little off topic, but It goes with the theme of the thread. Is there any noticeable difference in the steering between a 350mm wheel and stock in regard to steering feel/response? I just got a momo mod 69 and have yet to put it on due to maintenance currently being done on the car, but am considering the possibly of a sparco 678 wheel (380mm).
Just wondering if il'll regret the 350mm vs 380mm (little over an inch difference).

Some people like the smaller 350mm steering wheels, but they do block some of your vision of your gauges.

I tend to like the larger steering wheels (380-390mm) for a couple reasons.
One of them being an unobstructed view of my gauges, another being greater ease in turning the steering wheel.
At least for me.

To each his own.
For most things in life.....there are tradeoffs.

Luckily most steering wheels don't cost all that much, so it is easy to try a couple of different sizes to you arrive at the one that works best for you.
;)
