Question Engine Identification

The car is a 68 911 when recieving car I was given an engine(bad) with the following stamped on it - 911/85 and 6272569.(this engine was previouly in the car). The engine currently inside the car has stamped on it 911/92 and could not find the other numbers like I was able to on the first motor.

Does anybody know what the numbers on the two engines tell us, or where I could find out.

Thanks in advance

Ray

Ray,

The 911/85 engine was a 50-state 1977 2.7 engine.

The 911/92 is a 'standard' 50-state 1974 2.7 CIS engine with 8.0:1 compression and 150 DIN hp.
