Post 1974 wheel upgrades

I'm interested in upgrading my factory "cookie cutters" to either Fuchs or some other wheel type. Does anyone have some examples of exactly what worked for them in terms of wheel and tire size? I do not have flared fenders, but I would like 16" wheels because of the better look and tire selection. What's the widest 16" wheel/tire combo that can be used for my car. Thanks for the input. Check out my current set-up at www.members.tripod.com/radiology_residency/index.html

Jack,
Your car is beautiful.

Mine is a '76 & pretty much the same spec. no where near as clean though.

There have been several threads about this before & opinion differs.
6in by 16 fuchs with 205/55 go straight on look terrific.

This means no fender rolling & is guaranteed.
7in rims may or may not fit.
As your car is sooo original I would keep 6in on all 4 corners.

It does improve tyre choice & handling.

Can you help me please by telling me how you 2.7 badge is fixed to your engine grill?

I have a new badge but can't work out how to attach it apart from glue.
The '76 lost the badge & the 911S script changes.

Cheers, JG

Jack,
I also have a 74 but with 15s. My comment is the 74 had skinny bumper guards and yours are like 75 and up i.e wide. PO must have had these replaced. Also, what is the rubber foil under your spoiler, I like it..is it add on?

Hey Jon,
Thanks very much for the compliments and the info. I won't be making any changes until next Spring, but I want to start looking now. There seem to be more tire options for 16" wheels. I am running 215x60/ 15's and there seems to be room for wider tires, but I'm not sure 6" wheels will accomodate them.
I will check on the badge thing for you. I'll take a look today and post it for you. Or you can e-mail me and I will respond.

Hey Dan,
Yeah the PO replaced the bumper guards with wider ones from a later model. The spoiler is also from a later model. Most of the catalogs have that spoiler for about $300. I agree that it looks pretty good. Thanks for the compliment.

Jack,
Thanks for info I'll check out that rubber air dam addition. On my 15s I run 205/60/15 Yoko AVS and they fill up the wheel wells pretty nice. Might work well on 16s too although most people seem to like a lower profile like 50 or 55.

Jack,
Go back to page 8 "first pics of my 74". I have more but did not post all angles.

JG,
I checked out the 2.7 badge and it looks like it's adhered with double stick tape. There are no screws or fasteners. Just stick it on good, 'cause we know what they cost! Yikes!
Good luck!
