Kenny,
Thanks for posting the link to your photos. I noticed you've done some work on E36 BMWs, how do you reinforce the rear suspension subframe suspension mounts? Seems to be a weak point on the E36 and E46 cars, lots of cracking in the chassis etc. Beautiful work. Thanks Ken |

The early E36's never came with the reinforcement plates until I think 94'/95? All E36 M3's had them welded in from the factory. Unless you do some serious track work, the factory reinforcement plates work well. As far as the E46's go, I buy reinforcement kits from Turner. I must have done a couple dozen cars over the years. I might have some pics somewhere in my computer. The real ***** is if you rip out the slugs inside the shell! Then the fix gets expensive!

I hear that. Just curious. I welded in the Turner fish plates and repaired the hairline cracks in my E46 m3 chassis. I'm not a super welder by any stretch, not pretty but it's holding up so far. Your right it is a major PITA. Street driven car so I;m hoping it holds up.
Thanks Ken |

Quite the trial. Obviously, I can relate. Looks great, assuming I get reassembled at some point lets make a point of doing some events together this year.

Cuan, glad to see some progress! You're insane. What will power this beast?
You think you'll visit us at Devens when it's done? Great job so far Kenny! Chris

Very cool.
Are the multi piece fiberglass rear bumpers still available from Series 900? Would they be available for a car with SC/Carrera rear flares? |

@rjay - nice to hear from you sensei! I'd love to get some faux long hood action going at Mt. Tremblant this year...
@Chris - Devens will undoubtably be the venue for some shaking down. As for the FG tail pieces, I'm sure all things are possible if Damon is in a creative mood. Don't know actual status though. Damon? |

Oh I forgot....
While I do have dreams (fantasies?) of at some point fitting a high butterfly 2.5, the powerplant for now is a stock 3.6 The power to weight ratio (assuming I can drop the winter weight) shouldn't be too shabby though. |

Kenny,
Your welding skills are impressive. Just curious, do you have a Hand control on the tig? Using a foot control in those awkward positions would be extremely difficult. Jay |

Almost all of my torches have buttons attached. I only use the foot pedal when I'm doing bench work. Not sure what welder you use, but I can program my own parameters on mine. (start amp, peak amps, how long it takes to ramp up/down etc.) make sense? ![]()

Kenny, I am so impressed with the work you are doing on this car that it makes me want to move back to Boston - oh wait I just saw the weather report - maybe Ill stay in Texas. All he best - and to your dad. As my signature says I'm also building a new STish 3.6 but not even in the same universe as Cuan's. Mine is intended as a daily driver to replace the GT3 and to look more more comfortable next to my 70 and 69.
Look after yourself and keep us informed on the car. Laurie Jitts
