Just put a pair on.

O.k. for the money, they are Chinese.

Right bank fit poorly and needed a bit of persuasion on the bench to get all the flanges lined up flat, and then they still went on a bit tight around the exhaust studs. Poor weld fixturing...

They do not have a a real merge collector, so its questionable if you can call them a "real" header.

I believe they help my car breath a bit better over 6k rpm, but probably would not buy them again.

Another option are the units at rarlyl8.com. They are short, yet equal length, made of 321 stainless and can be had with heater boxes. They are made in the USA by none other than Ben McFarland of M&K - customer service and support is top notch. All welds are back purged, as well, so no worries about slag, which is why they are extremely popular wit the turbo crowd.

Expensive, yes, but in terms of value, hard to beat. Being 321 stainless, they won't be pretty as the turn a bronze-ish color when heated, thus why they aren't polished. They could always be jet-hot coated, which is what I will do when I get mine.

No
it's been discussed, but they wanted a commitment to a container full !
That was a year ago, so the climate has changed. Perhaps good time to open the subject again

Thanks

FWIW my experience in dealing with Dave at TRE has always been positive and he returns my calls so that is very helpful. I didn't think much of the issues with the set I got as I hacked them up anyway for a custom setup on my car (I knew I would be doing this when I bought them).

Dave- sent you an e-mail.

I have the same ones in mild steel. They are ok, mine fit fine. The collector is a bit suspect. I have a set of Georges headers here to and hope to get a set of the Brian/M&K ones as well and if time permits see what the dyno says about it all....

Cheers

The world has been waiting for someone to dyno all sets on one car to see what the end result is. I am sure you'll let us know if you do!

If I can fit it all in I will anounce the results to the world!! The car is completly apart right now so it would be a fall 2010 type project......

It would be on my 3.4 so may not be comparible to a more stock motor as this motor is built to the nuts...

Cheers

UPDATE 4/15/10 We have disappointing news on the stainless 1.625 stainless headers. Looks like they are out of stock on ones that fit, and their efforts to "fix" them are unacceptable to us. The principal of the company will be back in about a week to discuss their plans for the future. We will check the 1.750 units then and report back.
So if its stainless you want, you will have to wait till either the upcoming MK / Rarly8 ones are ready, or we have some positive news to report

OTOH- we do have the "vintage " line of mild steel 1.5- 1.875 headers available. These use an intermediate adaptor between the header and muffler, or megaphones. Price is less, of course, and they do fit !

Thanks to all for your input
Dave
