Max & Moritz Sportsfahrwerk
First post here, firstly great forum I've been browsing for a couple of weeks now and am amazed at the amount of knowledge on this board
So to my question, Just bought my first pcar 911 coupe (87), its a German car that has "Max & Moritz Sportsfahrwerk" from new, the PO said that Max & Moritz are a reputable tunner ? I'm still trying to figure exactly what I've got with this sports suspension, but the ride height seems a little odd (compared to other posts here) Front (ground to fender) 24.5 Rear 25.7 should I trust this suspenssion set up or have the hole set up looked at, since I want to do some hill climbing in the summer. sorry I don't have more details on the Shocks / torsion bars yet, can I check these myself ?

Great looking car. I love the ride height.
As for the shocks what colour are they? You can tell by the colour what shocks they are. As for the torsion bars, I don't know how to check them, without taking them out and measuring....but there is probably an easier way. Someone here may know. Shawn

I'm not sure, but Max Moritz seems reputable. Bruce Anderson speaks highly of their piston sets for conversion from 3.0 to 3.2 liters displacement.

ritemate, do a search of this board, you will be looking for Roland Kunz. He lives in Stuttgart and may be familiar with the tuner.
Charlie, the Max Moritz BA refers to was the first, or one of the first importers of Porsche. Don't think they're related.

Charlie got it right!
Check page 147 of Anderson's 2nd Edition - there's a picture of a nice wedge shaped piston with a cylinder . . . from Max Moritz. 3.0 -> 3.2 conversion parts with Bruce's blessing. Apparently Moritz had his pistons made by Mahle, according to Anderson. Best! Kurt Last edited by kstar; 12-11-2001 at 01:51 PM.. |

Beautiful car!
Just wondering....what colour is it? Is it white or blue? It looks very similar to my car. Cheers!

Max Hoffman was the first importer of Porsche to the USA in the '50s, and the idea behind the original Speedster!

Thanks for the input, the "Max & Moritz" I was refering to is I believe a OEM dealership near Stuttgart (I've been told they have some race history), not sure if this is who Bruce Anderson is refering to or not ?
I have not lived in germany for very long (2 years now) so just wondering if anybodies heard of them Mike : I think the colour is grandprix white, Ice blue sounds nicer though... Cheers Sebastian |

Bruce Anderson is probably regarded as one of the best people out there who know 911s. He has a GREAT book out it is now a second edition. It is the "911 Performance Hanbook", I highly recommend it. As well be sure to get Wayne's Book "101 Projects for your 911". If he held Max Moritz in high regard. HE IS GOOD! Shawn

Hello
M&M is also like Strähle a trational dealer who had a own race team for "Kundensport". In the late 60´s when Porsche focused on the big race classes the smaller local Porsche dealers like M&M, Strähle, Hahn where used as prolonged workbench developing and manufactoring as well as maintaincing race 911 914/6. In the mid 70´s when Porsche neglecet the 911 and focused on 924/928 most 911 in the wool drivers went to those companys to make there 911 comeptive to there old used 2,7 RS yet not buying a fat but fast turbo. ride height?
Are you sure about those measurements? Car looks normal in photo, ( hard to see rear height), but what you listed would be 1" lower than euro in front, and 3/4 higher in rear. This would give car a lot of "going downhill" forward rake that I don't see in pic. Rear fender 1/2" lower than front actually gives car slight, (2deg.?), down in front rake. For best weight transfer and balance on 911, this is what you usually want, is this correct, guys?
![]() Also, car appears to have ROW(europe), "sport package", which is F/R spoilers and factory sport shocks, (bilstein green). See if shocks are green. These are great shocks.

Roland thanks, that puts my mind to rest. It sounds like I should not mess with the suspension I have then, which I believe is still as M&M intended
Double checked the ride high (the pic does not show it very well but there is some serious rack on this car): Front 24.5 Rear 25.7 Will check the colour of the shocks tonight Gruss Sebastian |

Hello
Always check the setings as this can change over the years. German tuners with kowledge will not drop the car to a cafehouseracer. There is a optimum hight for street use and this is what the factory used on there own Sportfahrwerke ( Bilsteins ). To low will only eat the tires and make the car handle bulkier without return in speed gain. You just will fly off later but harder so you can´t react in time to catch it in. Yes the M&M and RUF always use Mahle parts. They are just the best and very close as well. Max & Moritz is still a Porsche dealer and you will find them in the Internet or in the Phonebook. They moved from there Reutlingen place when Hahn ( PZ Flughafen Stuttgart ) opend the Echterdingen facility. Grüsse |
