what make struts can i use?

i have a 73 911s, with 3.5 in spacing. the previous owner powder coated the strut housings and inserts yellow, so i cant find manufacturer name. p/o told me he installed kyb struts, but i want to install bilsteins. can anyone show me where to scrape the paint so i can find out what sort of housings i have. thanks very much in advance..........sincerely, kevin
