Spring plate covers
This post is a two part question.
1. Do all spring plate retaining covers (over the torsion bar at rear) tend to rust between the rubber bushing and the cover? If so - is this something that we just rough up until we find base metal? I'm thinking not. 2. Assuming that this is not common - does somebody out there have a pair available at a reasonable price? Shipping to central WI. The id's of my covers are a really nasty appearance, with the area where the cover can have water collect under the bushing has grown some thick rust with a glazed appearance (since the busing was working against it). In addition to the question - I found a great way to remove the old vulcanized rubber bushings. We use a rubber lagging vendor at my workplace who volunteered to soak my spring plates in a solvent and dissove the bushings. I'll report back here with results in a day or two. I'm happy not to have to cut my fingers all up (tried removing these mechanically already, and it was no fun!) Thanks. Chris. |
