Successful Engine Drop!
Completed my Engine Drop last night - thanks to the help of a couple of friends!
Can't say that the process took 2 hours like most folks - took a bunch of sporadic hours of setup and unfreezing various bolts and such. Also missed a couple of connections - but everything was unhooked in the end. Thanks to everyone here for the great posts. Now the fun begins - Transmission goes out for repair, new clutch, major cleaning, and lots of little projects! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1273676137.jpg (And no the battery is not still hooked up - just the flash reflecting off my rear lights....) jcsjcs |
Thats great are you repairing or rebuilding?
|
The engine is actually ok - but needed to get to the transmission. So while it is out, I will be doing a lot of other work - but no plans for any major engine work.
Having Gary Fairbanks rebuild the transmission. |
Congrats on your engine drop. I know how you feel....I did my first one last winter. Quite a sense of satisfaction once it is on the ground isn't it. One thing I didn't do that I wish I'd done with the engine out was re-torque the intake manifolds as they were loose and causing a bit of a vacuum leak. I inspected the hoses and found cracks while it was out though so that was good. Good luck with the repairs.

Will definitely add re-torque intake manifolds to the list of things to do!
It does feel good to have it out... now I want it CLEAN and pretty looking (somewhat) - but not up to concours specs :) |
And the Engine is back in....
Put my engine back in last night! Now I need to hook everything up - but it feels like I might have it on the road before the snows start!
Just felt like sharing. :) |
nice!

Getting the engine back in place is the difficult part. If it's bolted in place, you're 50% there. Only a few hours of work and you should be there. It might take a few trys properly to get the shifter adjusted properly. Just in time for a late summer drive.
