minor body damage need advice

Well, I backed into the garage and have some minor damage to the rear driver's side over the wheel. The paint on my car is completely intact. The white in the pics is from the white paint from the garage.

I took it to the body shop and they said they would bang it out with a hammer which would crack the paint and it would have to be repainted but the new paint area would be more shiny than the rest of the car. That assessment made me question whether they really knew what they are doing.

I really don't want to repaint, are there any other options? Can I fix it some other way? They said it is beyond the dent wizard, but I have not called them, yet.

Paintless dent repair? My wife's Mercedes had a nasty crease put in the driver's door from an inconsiderate parker--it really was quite bad but didn't break the paint. The dealer brought the guy in, he fixed it, and they buffed the door. Can't tell anymore where it was damaged. Might want to consult with one of those guys.

I agree with David! Had a nasty one with my Audi - a large sheet of plywood fell on the front fender! Called the local dent doctor - took a few hrs. and $200.00 the fender looked as if nothing happened. Have the tech. look at it and he will tell you if it can be done.

Sorry to say it but that sharp body line will make this a no can do for the PDR guys. I would however continue to find another body shop. That paint looks excellent and I don't see any reason why it couldn't be matched for color or gloss.

Since it is on the edge where you have different light angles around that area anyway, it is suitable for a spot repair in my view.
Have it carefully hammered out, have the paint analysed to mix the right color and structure. A well done spot repair should do perfectly.

Once you remove the white paint with lacquer thinner, you will most likely find that the car's paint is after all, damaged. I say it has to be spotted in.

They are telling you that it will have more shine because of the new clear coats. For that little of damage, I'd order the color in a spray can from the local paint supply of Paint Scratch dot com.
