911 windshield R&R
Is it possible to remove a windshield without breaking it and at the same time reusing the rubber seal?
|
Yes and Yes... However, if someone has used a lot of silicone to seal the gasket into place then re-using the gasket might not be a good idea. The W/S pushes out real easy...
I just had a new after market W/S installed for $265.00, I purchased a "factory" gasket from Pelican. If you decide to replace your gasket, don't buy an aftermarket gasket, I've done both and there is no comparison to the fit. If you want a slightly used aftermarket gasket I have one that I'll sell ya for $25.00. I took a lot of time and cleaned the gasket track of all sealant before installing the new W/S thinking that the gasket would lay in tighter thus preventing any air/water leaks. I know a lot of members install their own glass, but for the money I thought it was cheap insurance not to screw up the aluminum trim or break the glass and have a professional do the installation. |
