![]() I have heard that a good way to clean lenses is to put them in a dishwasher. Has anyone done this with 69-73 911 lenses? Don't want to risk a nice set if someone has had bad results. Thanks, Len

I've had very good sucess using the dishwasher for light lenses. Put them in the top rack and use a liquid dishwasher detergent (less abrasive). Whatever you do do not use the dry cycle though.

I haven't used a dish washer, but I washed my '87 lens on the inside with alcohol and they came out looking as good as new.

As with most plastics, avoid heat (drying cycle) and ethanol (dries plastic and causes cracking). Isopropyl is safer.
I would start with hot soap and water and a very soft brush (toothbrush) and see what you get.

There's a chance with the early lenses, that the silver edging will come off in the dishwasher.
The black on the '73 light seems more durable. If you use a dishwasher, I'd try a rinse cycle WITHOUT soap and see how they look. |
