dash/interior carbon-fiber upgrade. Very cool!
Hi everyone,
I've decided to share my interior upgrade project with all of you...I'm new to this forum but have been following and using it for a while... Recently I came upon a car with many carbon-fiber interior parts and got hooked, loved it. Did some research and found a local shop ::: Welcome to K2 Concepts ::: that specializes in so-called liquid carbon-fiber, also known as hydro-carbon ... it's very cool technology and the results are stunning. So I decided to re-do my whole lower dash and some trim pieces. Thanks only to info on this forum was I able to remove the lower dash pieces { Replacing Center Dash Trim - thanks! }. Given the info from this thread it wasn't actually that difficult. I sent in the stuff, talked to Jim {owner} about the options and within 2 weeks I had my stuff back in my garage, ready to install it. The trim looks amazing, very high-price and it gives my interior an edge. I'm very happy to have one of the very few people specializing in this technology living so close to Orange County, CA and would recommend his services to anyone. Jim did an awesome job and the pricing was very reasonable. So, enjoy the pictures and let me know what you all think... ![]() ![]() ... absolutely love the console, Jim did such a great job masking it I couldn't belive ![]() ![]() ![]() ...and final look ![]() ![]() ![]()

thanks
Yes, very happy to have done it...
No, it's not painted but applied via so-called water transfer technique... check K2 concepts {and others} on youtube to see how it works.. |

Hey there Romax - did you do the side vent upgrade in that car, or was it like that when you got it? I'm very interested in replacing the stock 'wafer thin vents' with those - I assume your AC flows thru them?

How expensive is this process? I understand the pricing is based on individual pieces, etc.
What did you pay for the stuff you got done, if you don't mind! Looks nice!

So is the "carbon fiber" just decals from photographs, pretty much? |

Yeah, it's not that easy but absolutely doable with the info from the tread... I'm no mechanic by any means ...
No, I wouldn't call it a decal ... it's a "water-transfer" used to simulate all kinds of 'real' finishes {most car manufacturers use it for dash trim pieces believe it or not}. It's permanently transferred to the surface ... google it or youtube it... ...good tip on the screws...

The process is usually costly ... the car I saw originally {Corvette} with this stuff had almost 3 times more $$$ in it for the same amount of pieces.... This guy Jim is absolutely the least expensive I found in the US, and there's not that many of them doing small individual orders like this.... So I paid +/- $600 ... you figure $0.50 per sq. inch with $20 minimum , so anything smaller than 40 sq. inches is still $20. I was able to get the tiny seat trim pieces for $20 a set... |
