What do you all think of this car/color? Is it too brown?
I like the car, just not sure about the color. Tan interior. |

What is that, rosewood? I think it looks cool, more unique than the red/white/black you usually see. Then again, it's your call. Can you live with it?

It's an ugly brown/copper color that is hard for most people get past. Also with so many cars around I would wait till you find one in the color you really like.

If the color has to grow on you it sure isn't going to help resale value.

It will certainly hurt resale value a little but mostly it will hurt how fast you can sell the car. Black, silver, and red sells fast.

on the other hand, because it's not a popular color, you can probably
get the car much cheaper. Drive a hard bargain.

I never understand why people buy a car based on resale value. If you are worried about selling it, why buy it in the first place??
I kinda like the color, every Tom, Dick and Harry has a silver, red or black one.

Personally, I like that color a lot. There was another '89 coupe that color periodically for sale by an Oregon dealer on ebay a while back. The pictures of that car taken at close range looked very orange.

I much prefer that color to the usual brown.

I almost bought an interesting colored (Olive?) 911SC with checker board fabric seating that I thought was going to grow on me in time. Instead, I waited and bought the one that I couldn't live without. Much happier that I waited.

I like it.
Easier than black to keep clean and not noticed by law enforcement like red would be. It will probably be the only Carrera in that color at the next Porsche gathering.

That cars been for sale several times on EBAY and I believe the owner has won several concourse events with the car. If I recall correctly it’s a very low mileage one owner example with full documentation all receipts and a price that reflects this.
I do buy and sell cars with resale in mind, and as impressive as the condition and history of this car is, in that color it’s a tuff sale. My father has a 1986 560 SL that’s in maroon. Even though he is the original owner and has all the records the red/silver/black ones will go for more and are easier to sell even with shotty records and several owners. That looks like a heck of a car. It’s a great year in wonderful condition and its history is well documented. If you even have a doubt about the color that means most other buyers will too. If you don’t care about the color and you want a 911 of this vintage and plan on keeping it for along time then this car appears to be a good candidate. For some reason I seem to recall a price in low 30’s maybe. Pretty steep.

Copper Brown Metallic
If that is Copper Brown Metallic, then it will grow on you. I owned a 78 SC that color and although I admittedly had a tough time overcoming the color when I first was offered the car--it grew on me and when properly cleaned can be somewhat cool.
The car I owned had 50 000 miles and was chocked full of upgrades. I was very happy with the car and eventually grew to really like the color. I then caught the early 911 bug and sold it. It sold in less than a week--the color didn't seem to slow it's sale here--but there aen't that many here, and the car was in excellent condition. A.B. |

Color is a big deal. Not so much for resale, but for your own pride of ownership. This is a toy after all. If you like the color and like the idea of having a car that in not like 5 other cars that will show up for an event, then go for it. If you don't like the color, it will never get any better and changing it (the right way) costs a fortune. Not really an option.
