Hello All,

Which is the best short shifter kit for the 915 trans?

Stay away from the Weltmeister = crap , the Wevo is very nice if you get their linkage kit also. Thats what I have in my 930 and I am very happy. Hope this helps.

seems the wevo is a precision shifter, not a short shifter. i got one because most who have say
"best money i ever spent on that car!" get the whole wevo package

The Wevo shifter kit reduces the shifting distance by 30% as well as centering the shifter on the 3/4 gear plane when in neutral with an additional spring.

And if you don't feel like spending $700 on a shift kit, the factory shift kit works well too. I installed it, adjusted the linkage and am very happy with it.

Yep.

MANY go back, don't like the SS'er after the 'cool new toy' effect wears off.

Listen to this guy about the Weltmeister, Not only is the lever shorter, but the tang welded to the lever is narrower which limits the placement of the lever even more. Did I mention that the distance between 1st and 3rd is even narrower? Did I mention the the lever is shorter increasing the lever effort? I have sold a few extensions to make it better.

Something else to Consider is Buying the Porsche Factory Shifter Kit for about $150 and adding the Seine Shifter Kit for about $150. This make 1st & 2nd gear Spring loaded like 5th & Reverse but has the 3rd & 4th Gear as the Default Plane. The Shift lever will still look like a "Porsche" but it will shift like it "Should have from the factory!" My WIfe and I have not missed a gear since and if a Friend drives the car you do not have to worry about then hitting 1st from 2nd gear!

The last Pic is this all in my car! If you use a leather Boot or do not mind the Bulge, you do not have to have the Seine Kit showing anything.

I just installed a Hargett shifter system in my SC. I don't think it gets much better than that. It's a little expensive, but it is an awesome piece...
