Are RS door handles sturdy?

Out host and others sell these plastic repro RS door handles. The originals were also plastic I believe. Anyone know if they will survive a panicked passenger hanging on for dear life in a high speed corner?

No, they are not sturdy. In fact, they did not survive shutting of my fiberglass doors.

I made a simple strap with a length of leather that fits across the two holes after mine broke.

Someone makes a metal replacement? TRE?

Wevo makes metal ones, I've had good experiences with their products before.

GT racing sells aluminum handles which are drilled out and look pretty cool. You could also PC them if you don't like the metal look. There are also different versions of the rs handles where the handle does not have a hinge and is covered in padded black vinyl.

I've definitely broken a few of those plastic handles.
Normally just not "reefing" on them will allow them to survive.
But I've always got a couple of "spares" just in case.

I think the WEVO replacements look pretty nice.

they have about 50 cycles then they break. I put a nylon web loop under the front part of my leather strap and use that to close the door.
