Porsche Museum

Hello,

I did it, and it was way more than what I expected.

I ran across the street from the car to take the pic.

I will post pictures as soon as get them optimized for the web, I took over 200 pics.

Stuttgart is quite pretty, It's also impeccably clean and the people were very helpful. I got there on Friday in the afternoon, the following pictures are from the city.

A couple more from the city and we'll go into the museum.

Let's go back to the museum now.

This is Porscheplatz and the Porsche museum.

This is the P- dealer at the platz and where some of you migth even have picked up your cars.

widgeon13,

Someone here has a quote something like "It smells like German heaven", it holds true in that building.

And the lighting is SO GOOD, you can't hardly take a bad photo in there. Did you also get to tour the MB museum? (Designed by the same team, but MUCH larger).

I am headed over there next month - can't wait. Year before last, the museum was still under construction, last year I took the girlfriend and didn't get to go.

rouxroux,

You're right, my photo skills are poor and most of the pics came out really nice.

bart1,

I wish you a nice trip, it's worth visiting.

dagriff,

I see you had lunch there, your pie looks tasty.

Some more pics,

Question to those that have been to the museum. Are the porsche's they display uncirculated off the assembly line from years past (not the race cars) or are they all restored cars?

I am assuming Porsche never thought about holding a car of ea model in those earlier years in anticipation of opening a museum 50 yrs later.

from boxster03

I was listening to the recordings about the cars (I heard most of them) and if I'm not mistaken there were several cars that were the number 1 in their series, like 0001, this leads to think that those were cars they kept. For example there was a black 356 "Ferdinand", that was actually the one given to the late Ferdinand (the founder). I guess some were kept by the family, some must have been bought from private collectors.
