Need recommendations- Straight pipe & SW chip

I have an 84 911 Carrera, ROW. I am looking to replace my pre-muffler with a straight pipe and put a SW chip in it. I'm looking for recommendations on straight pipe. What improvement did any of you get with this combination? Let me know your experience?

Bit the bullet

Spoke to SW, had a very convincing conversation. I went ahead and ordered the pre-muffler and chip from SW. Thanks anyway.

Bursch premuffler is good and inexpensive.

Make sure it has a bung for the O2 sensor.

Care to expand on the convincing argument?

I have an '85 ROW and have been thinking the same.

Sounds as though he recommended a new premuffler as opposed to a straight pipe, any reason?

Dansk sells high quality stainless test pipes (cat delete) with O2 bong, not expensive.
Less restrictive, louder, good stuff!

Originally I had cut out the cat and added a straight piece of tube with an O2 mount. SW chip was tuned for it and 95 octane gas. It was a massive difference over stock.

I have a friend who recently got SW to re programe a chip to suit headers with sport muffler on 95 octane and change the rev limiter to 7k. It is a rocket so i made a set for my car and just need the chip changes to make me happy

Feds, well as far as the conversation with SW, he did explain to me the details of the performance improvements and throttle response, dyno tests, optimally metered fuel, hence improved performance etc. Most of all I can't seem to find a post to the contrary. As for pre-muffler decision it was my decision, I went with it mainly cause of the noise level. I don't race, I'm in my mid 40s, use the car more for pleasure driving, goose it once a while and "No offense" don't want to sound like a teenager with a loud exhaust and huge sub-woofer in the back seat. I'd like to keep this car as stock as possible.

You might do a search on "premuffler" and "Anderson" Premuffler actually makes more hp than straight pipe; counterintuitive but true.

Thanks,

Sounds as though I should have a conversation with SW as well, some interesting information there I'm sure.

I too like to keep things stock and not that interested in being a nuisance to others.

Curious about the premuffler, I haven't read the threads yet, so maybe the info is in there but, do the premufflers wear out? get clogged I guess?

I was searching pelican last night and couldn't find an oem replacement, wondering if you found one or went with an aftermarket unit?

Thanks again.

SW's Site has a lot of feedback from folks who use his stuff, my impression is it will be a while before they clog. You should see the one in my car now, I believe it is the original one and looks weird, but my car performs fine. I imagine it is going to do great with the new setup. I should have the chip this week and the pre-muffler next week. I will update you on how it goes.
