Momo Porsche Crest Horn Button Installation

Just got my hands on a Porsche crest Momo horn button. before I start, can anyone tell me how easy or hard it is to install. Will there need to be any modifications? Are the connections the same as the existing Momo button? I attached a picture of the back of the button, would appreciate any advice.

It's a piece of cake to install. Pops right in like the Momo Horn button.

Really..I had heard something about the originals having 2 connections and the crest buttons having only one. But you've made me feel more comfortable...thanks

Yes no problem, just remember to compress the ground wire on the side sticking out so it fits inside the lip of the wheel.

Have fun....

Doesn't Fit!

Well, the Momo Porsche Crest button doesn't fit on my Momo Race wheel. It is too big for the opening in the wheel, the original Momo button fits perfect, but the crest one is a bit too wide and slightly too thick. That stinks! Guess I have to live with the Momo button. Looks like there will be a Porsche Crest button on Ebay soon!

I put a Momo Race wheel on my 87 carrera last yr, love it! I also put in the Porsche Crest horn button. You are correct that the button is too thick to use the outside ring, I put mine in without the outside ring, button fits in the wheel hole nice and snug. I'll try to get a picture later this afternoon for you.

You can disassemble the MOMO and P-bottons, insert the tin P-crest into the MOMO assembly and that's it!

I started writing an instruction for a parts dealer buddy once...if you need it I'll find it, but it's a simple procedure.

Disassemble?

That actually ran through my head. I didn't want to ruin them and be stuck with none. Can you tell me how to do it?

If memory serves me right, you can carefully press the three tabs on the underside of the horn bottons to free the ring around it. The two halves will come apart and you can free the spring and tin buttons.

Stare at it for a minute and it'll be easier than you think.

The wheel looks good!

How did you do that dye job on the heater knobs? My SC currently has a couple pink ones!

Dying Heater Knobs

It really is pretty easy. Just pull them off (carefully...i wrapped them in a towel and tapped them with a hammer to slide them off). I used RIT scarlett red dye, rigged up an old water bottle with a coat hanger so I could suspend them in the dye without them laying on the bottom, and let them sit near my basement furnice for about a week. Wipe them down and repeat if necessary for another week. I think this works better than cooking the dye over the stove, it seems to soak in better my way. Use any white craft paint...wipe it on, let it sit a few seconds, then wipe it off. The paint stays in the letters. They come out great, better than spending $30+, although it's not about the money..it's about knowing the originals are restored. Have fun..post pics when you finish.
