So cal zenith carb redo

Buying older 911 and anybody have recommendation for carb clean out and set up. Running car. I do not have much more info as I do not have car yet. Also what is cost I should be looking at? Total rebuild and set up and just clean out and set up?
New to 911's but not resto's and just trying to get heads up. I live in NY and would rather have work done in CA and just do not have time at the moment to do myself. If it is big cost I will just buy kits?? I usually do everything myself and have no idea what it would cost. As I get older time get valuable and some projects just have to be farmed out.

Thanks

Zenith kits can be found on Ebay for about $75.....For labor, I know John Walker once mentioned 8 hrs.......I wouldn't use MM, but they charge $800. There is a highly respected Zenith guy in the Medford, Oregon area, maybe someone can chime in with the name number.....

I've been thru my Zenith's twice.....The biggest advise I can give it to flush the tank and lines & change all filters/screens. Otherwise, you just have to repeat the process.

I did my own. Took an entire weekend to take apart, do a meticulous cleaning and re-assemble. I modified mine to remove the decel fuel enrichment circuits while I was at it. I let it sit overnight in carb cleaner which helped loosen the stubborn stuff. You'll need a gallon can of carb cleaner (with basket), a case of carb cleaner cans, several brake parts cleaner cans, compressed air, old toothbrushes, etc. good ventilation is a must.
Kits are available several places including our host - Pelican.

Then you'll spend several hours tuning them. If you enjoy this sort of thing it is a lot of fun and will save a ton of $ relative to sending them to someone else. Even if you send them out, you'll still need to tune them once re-installed. It sure helps to have a good knowledge of them from assembly when you go to tune.

You'll need a float level gauge and a synch tool of some sort to assist in tuning.

+1 above, drain the fuel tank, flush it, remove and clean the pick-up screen and change the filter while you're at it. The passages are tiny in the carb and you need to have clean fuel coming in. In my case I took the tank out of the car and to the local car wash and blasted the gunk from the bottom of the tank. I then connected a leaf blower to the tank for 30 minutes to dry it out before putting it back together after cleaning the screen, purging the lines, etc. 40 years of fuel and plenty of sitting time prior to my ownership caused all sorts of fuel cleanliness issues. Those are now solved!
