Not sure whether to cry out of pleasure or pain. Recently, wife totalled our SAAB. I have a commuter car I drive during the week and the '82 911 on the weekends. As a stop-gap solution, I let the wife drive the 911 (cat bypass and bursch muffler - sounds great).
Now I can't get her out of it!!! I'm going to a DE this weekend and she's coming with me. I think I created a monster. But it's cool - you don't see too many women driving the older 911s - something about the non-power steering usually turns them off. You should see her smile after about 4,000rpm when the speed and sound starts building fast :-) |

That's great! You now have a staunch ally in the appreciation and maintenance of your toy. Cultivate this apprenticeship carefully! However: Be forwarned! You might end up looking for another 911 for her!

I've always liked the looks of the '73 - duck tail, carrera script, no CA emissions. I may be back in the market :-)

This is a good thing! Lucky boy! She'll totally understand when you have two 911s in the garage. This is my secret plan as well...don't tell a soul! Jw |

Jeeeeeez you guys are making me feel like a real *********. When my wife wants to drive the Cab I try to come up with excuses why she can't. But hey, I've only had her for 4 months, and have had the Cab for 7 years! What do you expect?

Motion -
Once your new wife drives it and gets that adrenaline "rush," she'll have to release her energy some how. That's where you come in - get it? |

True story:
I don't "allow" my wife to drive the P-car. That is, she's not good enough with a manual transmission in a Chevy let alone to qualify for 915 manipulation. Well, the other day she mentioned how I never let her try to drive the car (she's actually afraid to try, so she never asks). As we were leaving for the mall I opened the garage door and handed her the keys. I said, "Back the Porsche out--I need to go back into the house to get a magazine" (reading material for the clothes shopping). A mixture of fear and anticipation crossed her face as I turned around and walked to the bookshelf. When I returned to the garage she was sitting in the car with a puzzled look on her face. She asked, "Which one is the gas pedal?" Although I did a poor job of it I managed to smother my laughter long enough to tell her which pedal was which. I told her to push the clutch to the floor before she started the ignition. She couldn't reach so she adjust the seat forward to its frontmost stop. She still couldn't floor the clutch (she's 5'0"). She slid her butt forward in the seat enough to floor the clutch (slouching down and hanging from the steering wheel while she did so). By the time she got the clutch to the floor she couldn't reach the ignition anymore. ![]() I took the keys from her and drove us to the mall, laughing all the way... (PS: I love my petite wife, but this was just too damn funny.) |

Oh, I always leave the car in reverse gear when parked--had she turned the ignition key without disengaging the clutch she would have just shot down our driveway and stalled out.
