Thanks y'all. I took her out for about an hour this morning on back country roads for a little shake-down. Oh lord wow, biggest grin I've had in a car in years! Every mile the engine smooths out a little more which is encouraging. My lovely wife and 1.5 y/o son got a first ride around the neighborhood in her last night and he was just grinning from ear to ear, I'll have him hopelessly broken in no time too :D My wife seems to think my old Karmann Ghia was more "civilized" but I'm not sure if that's because she met me with it fully restored or just a rosy memory or?
The Flowmaster is LOUD! I'm on the fence if I love it or not, climbing through the gears it's musical, but a steady 50mph gets droney. I'm not changing it any time soon so I'll probably get used to it (I got used to and then liked the total lack of mufflers on our old Lexus SC400 so...) The more I accomplish the more I think needs doing. I know I have tuning to do as she stinks to high heaven of rich exhaust, but purring, idling beautifully and even beginning to start (after I read I wasn't supposed to give it gas) fairly well. Thanks for the kind words, the encouragement and the massive knowledge base Travis |
I had a few minutes tonight and decided to update my original Hi/Build Thread:
A few months in I've collected dozens of missing pieces (still seems I need so much before I think I have a complete car). I've gotten to know her a lot better, driving this car is every bit the therapy I expected it to be. Rough day and 20-30 minutes behind the wheel just erases it all. Here's a few updated glamor shots :) http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1281237156.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1281237250.jpg Thanks to Pelican and it's members for the loads of help I get! |
