Deep 6 Question
What's the history behind this wheel ? When was it first available ? I don't see it on any option list in the late 60's or early 70's. Thanks in advance.

I think the E's and S's got deep 6's from '69 thru '71 as standard. By '72 they changed to the next generation 6" wheel. I'm sure they were available as an option on T's and even 912's.

I just bought a set date stamped 2.67.10 so they were made the second week in October 1967. I think 911R's came with them on the front.

From what I recall, deep sixes were available for model years '69-'71.
A wheel dated 2/67 should be a 15x5.5" for model year '68. 911 E's had the hydropneumatic struts and were affixed with 14x5.5 wheels with the 15's as an option. 911 S's came standard with the deep six. 911 T's came standard with the 15"steel wheel, with the 14" Fuch (comfort group) and 15" as an option. The deep six with the heart were used through early '71 production and the deep six without heart was used until March '71. As far as I know? David |

The set I purchased are part # 901 361 012 06, so I guess they are some early ones.

With the deep 6's you see reference 'heart' or 'no heart' and the only place there's the heart shape is by the valve stem. The no heart is actually a much lower production wheel, 911s55's post reflects that fact.
