Hot start problems.

Searched the forums and have a few ideas now, but most of the problem threads seemed to focus on vapor lock and fuel delivery problems on older Ps.
Cold, it fires right up. When it's hot, the starter engages for about half a turn and then sits, almost like a dead battery (but without the later solenoid "chatter" you'd normally get). Once the car cools down, it fires right up again. Sometimes, I can just hold the key in the "start" position and it'll eventually roll past the initial "starter stall" and crank just fine and start again. CHT sensor? Starter? Oxygen sensor? It has a new battery/alternator (plus coldstarts fine) so I've ruled that out.

Thanks!
Dave

Have you checked the starter itself? The solenoid may be going bad. Also, check the ground wire on the transmission.

I had a similar problem last year. I had the starter rebuilt locally and the problem went away.

Went through the same thing at the track last weekend. My research shows the fixes to include a new high torque starter, "R&R" the starter itself, and a hot start relay kit. At this point, I am not sure what I am going to do, but leaning toward a new starter.
