Blinker problem

My blinkers are flashing like they are on crack. I know this is usually due to a bulb out. The only bulb that I have out is one of the license plate lights. Will this cause a blinker problem? Seeing as how I don't run with the lights on ALL the time, I don't see how they would be affected. I will be replacing the bulb regardless, but what could be another cause? A wire shorting out somewhere in the system would cause the blinkers to fail altogether, wouldn't it? Thanks.

Time to change the blinker fluid.

(Sorry!)

I wouldn't presume to understand the strange current routings of the 911, but I do know that new, same-maker bulbs all around (preferably Jahn or Phillips or other Euro-brand) have eliminated all the problems I once had in terms of signals, dash brake light, etc.

I spent that afternoon removing and cleaning signal/brake lenses, cleaning the signal buckets, pencil erasering contacts, and then putting in fresh bulbs with silicone grease and the result was a nice, even running light brilliance and no more signal etc. problems.

You might start by seeking the grounds for your signals and ensuring they are 100% clean. Total cost for the above exercise for me was about $6.00.

Hi Jeff,
Just replaced one of my license plate light housings (w/ bulb) on my '88 Carrera due to it being cracked. The blinkers worked fine while the light was out.

Other than that, I'm no help.

Okay, thanks guys. I appreciate the input. I guess I will try Jdub's suggestion. It'll give me an excuse to fondle my car.
