P/N Question --- Cam housing on '89 3.2

I'm in the midst of doing the valve adjustment on my '89 Targa when I notice a part number on the camshaft housing. It reads 964.105.111.1R.

PET doesn't show anything on this P/N but a web search shows it as an '89 964 camshaft housing.

I know some weird things began happening in '89 on the switch to the 964.... Things like body parts, seals, etc.

However, did Porsche begin installing 964 camshaft housings on 930/911 engine cases.

BTW, I searched the engine S/N and it shows as period correct for the car and I don't see any major engine work done in the car's history.....

I'm perplexed...... Anybody else out there seen this?

You're not alone. I have 964 windscreens, cam towers, and a few other pieces. Latest I've seen was that I have jacking points welded onto the body, which I've been told was a 964 addition. Apparently the prior models didn't have them, and were supposed to be jacked on the pinch welds (resulting in crushed floors by design?)

Kind of cool to see the bleed-over from model to model. I like to think it adds to the uniqueness of our cars.

My '88 has jack points on it. I believe they're present on all Carreras.

I got closure on the cam housing issue. The P/N is a casting number used internally by Porsche. Apparently the "R" suffix designates it as an internal number and will not show up on any parts diagrams.

I did get a build sheet pulled by a friend at the dealer and confirmed the engine number in the car matches the build record so I'm convinced the 964 parts began showing up on my 12-88 build targa.

I noticed the rear jack points too. I can't speak to the earlier cars but the points are very similar to my 993.
