Wie sagen Sie es in Deutsch? - 911
So how DO they say 911 in German? nine is NEUN, and eleven is ELF, so do they say 'Neun elf?' or do they say 'nine hundred and eleven?' I've always wondered. German speaking members, help me out!

All of my Austrian friends say "Nine Eleven" to me because they know my German is terrible. Actually, one of them drives a Buick around Vienna so what does he know!?
"Neun Elf" is probably the most common way of saying Nine Eleven, because I think "Neun Hundert Elf" is a little too awkward, even for German. I think they are also nicknamed "Elfens" or "Elfers" (can't remember) in Germany. Wiedersehen! |
