Filling holes

Hi guys while I have the engine apart I am going to fill in the holes in the tinware where the heater hoses come through. My car has been back dated a long time ago and I will never re-install heat. My question is apart from being the conduit for the heater hoses do these holes serve any other purpose? If not then I am going to fill them in and weld them up prior to sandblasting and painting the tin.

They serve no other purpose. You can also substitute sections. The rear early section does not have holes. Your SC side sections should not have holes.
