Dave,

Let's begin at the beginning.

What is your model/year?

Do you have a Bentley?

And,

Do you have a meter?

Gerry

okay
1987 930
no i have no bentley manuel
i will buy a meter tommorrow
i have a extra motor but no sure if its for the drivers side or passenger?
I know it works but not sure the side is there a way to tell?

you need to apply power and ground directly to the wire connections on the window motor itself (using jumper wires). that will tell you if the motor works.

Bruni,

I had an issue two weekends ago where i removed the door panel to change the speakers and my passenger door window would not go up or down anymore...Wasted a whole afternoon trying to figure it out, testing for power,switches,etc...
Turns out the wires on the connector plug that goes to the motor were pulled really tight and were not making good contact.

The connector is approx 4 inches above the speaker hole, locate it and make sure the wires have enough looseness and are not nearly pulled out of the plug like mine were.
That solved the problem for my window.

They were intermittent for a while before that and slamming the door harder than usual would make them work, although that is not a recommended fix ... lol

Cheers !
Phil

Bruni,

This is worth a try prior to buying a meter.

I do recall passing this suggestion on to wildcat a few weeks ago.

The connector/wiring harness does tighten up over time.

As always, please let us know what you find.

Good luck,

Gerry

Hi Dave

Assume that normally the engine works

To test it, you have to connect the green and black wires coming to the switch with an external 12V power source (ex. a battery charger). It's indifferent if + and green or + and black:

With the wires in one position the window goes up, with the other goes down

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1274887128.jpg

When you verifyed the engine you have to verify the wires

The power of the passenger engine comes PRIOR to the driver side and THEN to the passenger door through the hood.

Under each fender near the door hinge there's a soket. Disconnecting it you can verify that there are no cracks in the wires testing the contacts one by one

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1274887181.jpg

Normally, I use a 4 meters long external wire and an ohmeter: connect the extremities of each wire to the ohmeter and verify if the contact closes. In not, a wire has a crack.
The cause is opening and closing the door for 28 years :)

If every wire is ok, you can check the switches. But you tell you have changed it

Hope I have been useful

Gerry,

Thank you for your help, along with all the others who chimed in for my power window issue... I won`t mention the part about trying to manually lock my door with the driver`s door open... That`s another adventure altogether ... lol
Reading could be the best repair procedure !

Cheers :)
Phil
